AO Flight accomplished something on the 11th of December that no other company has ever done…we flew at night over the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service “Disaster City” complex supporting one of our special customers. Not only is AO Flight the first company to ever have been given the exception to policy to fly at night at the facility, we performed a very complex mission. It included flying in the Easterwood Class D airspace with aircraft landing and taking off at the airport during the operation, plus we added a S-61N helicopter flying under night vision goggles (NVG’s) conducting multiple insertion and extraction missions for the customer. Support for the all night mission was flawless and the assistant facility director that accompanied us stated we did a great job of de-conflicting the manned-unmanned aircraft interaction and he was very happy with our extreme professionalism and our attention to detail concerning safety!
