UAS Flown on Airport Supporting Ribs and Rods 2017

On the 19th and 20th of May 2017, Utility Aviation Inc. hosted the annual Ribs and Rods 2017 car show and BBQ cook-off at their enormous aviation complex located at the Draughon-Miller Regional Airport in Temple, Texas.  This charity event supports the local Ronald McDonald House. AO Flight Applications supported the event with our FAR 107 approved SkyRanger™ capturing high definition video of the event.  Our expert UAS pilots selected a perfect route and altitude to avoid overflight of the crowds of people on the ground, overflight of traffic on the adjacent highway, de-conflict with the downwind leg of the traffic pattern on the west side and still obtain awesome footage. Four flights of at least 30 min duration each were conducted over the two days with no incidents whatsoever and no interruption of aviation activities at the airport.  Winds on the 19th were gusting up to 30mph and had no effect on our operations at all.  Most of the people we asked had no idea the quad-copter was flying in the vicinity due to the quiet nature of the unit and the standoff capability with the cameras.  Video and pictures were provided free of charge to the Airport manager and to the organizers of the event to use for advertising for next year.  Clink on the following link to see some of the footage.
